Les Rousses
Les
Rousses is the village which is located in the centre of the Four Villages
Resort (Station aux quatre villages). The 3,000 residents are called the
Rousselands. The altitude of the village climbs from 1,120 to 1,680 metres.
The village offers a variety of activities in winter and summer to ensure
you have a pleasant stay.
In winter,
there are many downhill ski runs at your disposal, including 37 lifts,
2 chairlifts, an area for sledging, and 200 km of trails for cross-country
skiing. It is also possible to go riding on snowshoes or to walk through
the beautiful forests, crests and valleys. Perhaps you may want to attend
the various biathlon events and famous competitions which take place at
resort including the Transjurassienne, the Transjeune, and the Course
des as?
In summer,
we suggest a combination of hiking and riding. The resort is well placed
within the heart of the Haut Jura nature reserve. Other tempting activities
include swimming in the lake (Lac des Rousses), fishing, canoeing, windsurfing,
golf, tennis, archery, petanque, or horseback riding. A fitness centre
is also available for your enjoyment.
Other
amusements include a visit to the local museum and the fruitière
(cheese dairy) where you will be shown how the comté (the regional
cheese) is maturing. We also suggest you watch the local craftspeople
create their products in wood and leather.
Local
shops and services include a supermarket, bakery, sports shops, doctor,
dentist and pharmacy. Night-time enjoyments in Les Rousses include clubbing
and the cinema.
We are
confident that the activities on offer, together with the friendly welcome
of the townspeople, will ensure you have a wonderful stay in Les Rousses.
We await
your arrival.
